I had withheld this story for not really being suited to the Challenge topic, but when the Challenge seemed to draw no entries and was extended, I decided to toss it in as comment fodder.
In retrospect, the Challenge extension seemed like a 'sign' to actually follow the advice given within the story. Taken together with the winner resurrecting a previously-rejected story, there seems to be a common thread of redemption.
So my lesson this week is to write what you want to write, put it out there, and let readers judge questions of 'suitability' rather than preempting them with what you imagine they will think.
